In the late afternoon, we'll take a gentle drive into the city for a short walk through the local markets, followed by a visit to the peaceful Shanti Stupa and the historic Leh Palace. Exploring the Monasteries of the Indus Valley
After a delicious breakfast, we'll set out to explore the monasteries of the Indus Valley. Our journey begins with HemisGompa, the largest monastery of the Drukpa Kagyu order. Next, we'll visit Thiksey Monastery, an impressive complex that rises beautifully on a hill above the village. We'll also see Shey Palace, the ancient capital of Ladakh, the "3 Idiots" Rancho School, and the serene SindhuGhat. After visiting these places, we'll drive back to Leh for a relaxing overnight stay at your hotel.
To the Top of the World - Khardungla Pass
After breakfast, we'll drive to Khardung-la, the highest motorable pass in the world, recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records! As we drive (about 80 kilometers round trip), you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of the Indus Valley and the endless peaks of the Zanskar range on our way back. The rest of the day is yours to explore the local market at your own pace. Enjoy dinner and another overnight stay at your hotel.
The Stunning Blue of Pangong Lake
After an early breakfast, we'll embark on a memorable trip to Pangong Lake, passing through the high Changla pass. The scenic drive takes us through winding roads and the village of Sakti. We'll stop at Changla Pass for a quick photo opportunity before descending to the village of Tangtse, where you can enjoy a cup of tea. Continuing towards Pangong, we'll pass through a few small villages of Changthang, and then you'll suddenly be greeted by the breathtaking view of the famous blue brackish Pangong Lake, situated at a high altitude. This long and wide lake extends across the border into China. You'll feel incredibly close to nature in this unforgettable setting. Since the movie "3 Idiots," this beautiful location has become even more popular with travelers from all over the world. After spending some time soaking in the beauty of Pangong, we'll drive back to Leh in the late afternoon. Overnight stay at a hotel in Leh.
